Spotlight on transparency

Welcome to the Transparency Showcase, a virtual exhibit of innovative and impactful transparency projects by Ontario organizations.

The IPC launched a Transparency Challenge, calling on Ontario’s public institutions to share innovative projects that improve government transparency or use open data to improve the lives of Ontarians. The IPC received compelling examples of transparency initiatives, and has curated them in this Transparency Showcase to encourage other institutions toward greater openness and help increase awareness of the benefits of open data!

Transparency is essential to a healthy functioning democracy. When public institutions are open about their decisions and actions and proactively release non-personal data to the public, it helps counter misinformation.  It fosters civic engagement and constructive discourse. It helps improve Ontarians’ lives and redress inequities. Ultimately, it inspires greater trust in government and strengthens the very fabric of our society.
